My Swing Trading Approach

I’m not opposed to adding new long positions at this point in the rally, but I am cautious about overloading the portfolio with too many long positions at this point, as we are more likely than not to see a 1-2% pullback in the near term (in the coming weeks).  

Indicators

VIX – Dropped 4% and now down to 9.78. Likely to see a hard bounce in the next 1-2 weeks. 

T2108 (% of stocks trading below their 40-day moving average) – 3% improvement  to 63% – resistance looms at 66-67%.

Moving averages (SPX): Tested and broke the 5-day mvoing average for the first time since 9/8, but managed to rally back to green by the close.

Industries to Watch Today

At this point in the game, everything looks impressive. The two sectors that are struggling are consumer defensive and utilities and have diverged in recent days.

At some point, the market will pullback, but I will continue to ride the market higher for as long as it will allow.
