My Swing Trading Approach
Futures are up. I like my short positions that I have, I don’t trust the bounce one bit, so I’ll likely move to neutralize my portfolio bias, with additional longs, if the bulls decide to run with this today.
Indicators
VIX – VIX tried to rally the troops on Friday but the result was a 3.3% decline. This despite a 44% rally on Thursday.
T2108 (% of stocks trading below their 40-day moving average) – another 1.5% decline on Friday. Now only 34% of stocks are trading above their 40-day moving average.
Moving averages: Tried to break through the 50-day moving average on Friday, but was met with resistance. Today it is trying to gap above the level.
Industries to Watch Today
Financials are are in rough shape again. Rails starting to show signs of life again. Tech showing the most strength since Thursday’s sell-off. May lead the way today.

My Market Sentiment
Following Thursdays sell-off, I am still very cautious towards this market. Even if the bounce holds today, I’m not convinced it will hold it together. I could see us rush back to the all-time highs and then consolidate yet again.

Welcome to Swing Trading the Stock Market Podcast!
I want you to become a better trader, and you know what? You absolutely can!
Commit these three rules to memory and to your trading:
#1: Manage the RISK ALWAYS!
#2: Keep the Losses Small
#3: Do #1 & #2 and the profits will take care of themselves.
That’s right, successful swing-trading is about managing the risk, and with Swing Trading the Stock Market podcast, I encourage you to email me (ryan@shareplanner.com) your questions, and there’s a good chance I’ll make a future podcast out of your stock market related question.
In today's episode, I explain whether it is a good idea or not to rapidly increase the size of your portfolio if you come across a sum of cash. A lot of traders will do this without ever recognizing the emotional toll it can have on you as a swing trader and the awful mistakes you can make in doing so.
Be sure to check out my Swing-Trading offering through SharePlanner that goes hand-in-hand with my podcast, offering all of the research, charts and technical analysis on the stock market and individual stocks, not to mention my personal watch-lists, reviews and regular updates on the most popular stocks, including the all-important big tech stocks.
