My Swing Trading Approach
Raise the stops on existing long positions, and maintain the flexibility to get short as I have done over the past week of trading. Short setups are in play, if the weakness doesn’t immediately get bought up at the open.
Indicators
VIX – Dropped 2.3% yesterday but should spike hard today. Potential for a 15-25% move higher.
T2108 (% of stocks trading below their 40-day moving average): Continues to weaken dropping another 1% to 67%. Nothing major, but there is a good chance for that to rapidly drop today as well.
Moving averages (SPX): The 5-day and 10-day moving averages will be broken right at the open today. 20-day moving average is in play as well.

Industries to Watch Today
Technology and Financials led the way, while Energy is starting to roll over, following a strong August and September.
My Market Sentiment
Today is showing more downside in the pre-market, than the market has shown as a whole for more than a month and a half. Because of the tight trading range of late and the gradual melt up, a significant sell-off of 1-2% has the potential to cause a lot of technical damage on the charts.

Welcome to Swing Trading the Stock Market Podcast!
I want you to become a better trader, and you know what? You absolutely can!
Commit these three rules to memory and to your trading:
#1: Manage the RISK ALWAYS!
#2: Keep the Losses Small
#3: Do #1 & #2 and the profits will take care of themselves.
That’s right, successful swing-trading is about managing the risk, and with Swing Trading the Stock Market podcast, I encourage you to email me (ryan@shareplanner.com) your questions, and there’s a good chance I’ll make a future podcast out of your stock market related question.
Is it better to be lucky or skillful when it comes to being a good trader? I would argue you can have it both ways, but it requires that skill manages the luck, and at times when luck is simply against you too.
