Pre-market update:
- Asian markets traded 0.9% higher.
- European markets are trading 0.2% higher.
- US futures are trading 0.2% lower ahead of the market open.
Economic reports due out (all times are eastern): No news
Technical Outlook (SPX):
- Another strong follow through on Friday, making this market very reminiscent of the market bounce off from off the lows in October 2013.
- The 20-day and 50-day moving average now looms overhead at 1804 and 1809 respectively.
- Price resistance at 1809.
- In each of the last 6 trading sessions, volume has been above average.
- The biggest technical stronghold is the strength the market found from the trend line that started off of the August ’13 lows.
- In just four days the VIX has dropped from 21+ down to 15.29.
- Janet Yellen testimony before Congress tomorrow will weigh heavily on the market.
- SPX recaptured the 10-day moving average on Friday for the first time since 1/22/14.
- 30- minute chart of the SPX continues to rally off of the double bottom.
- A lower-low has now been formed on the SPX chart.
- Markets don’t care about the economy nor earnings. That is not what is driving them. The markets only care about what the Fed is doing to keep equities propped up.
My Opinions & Trades:
- Did not close out any positions yesterday.
- Added one additional long yesterday.
- Remain long SPLK at 75.00 and MU at 23.19, BHI at 56.98, GA at 11.07, BAS at 17.15.
- Will consider 1-2 new positions based on market conditions.
- Long 60% / Cash 40%

Welcome to Swing Trading the Stock Market Podcast!
I want you to become a better trader, and you know what? You absolutely can!
Commit these three rules to memory and to your trading:
#1: Manage the RISK ALWAYS!
#2: Keep the Losses Small
#3: Do #1 & #2 and the profits will take care of themselves.
That’s right, successful swing-trading is about managing the risk, and with Swing Trading the Stock Market podcast, I encourage you to email me (ryan@shareplanner.com) your questions, and there’s a good chance I’ll make a future podcast out of your stock market related question.
Watching the dollars rise and fall in your trading account can turn a well-planned swing trade into an emotional, deeply personal decision. In this episode, I explain why focusing on price action, percentage returns, and R-multiples can help you avoid cutting winners early, holding losers too long, and abandoning your trading plan.
Be sure to check out my Swing-Trading offering through SharePlanner that goes hand-in-hand with my podcast, offering all of the research, charts and technical analysis on the stock market and individual stocks, not to mention my personal watch-lists, reviews and regular updates on the most popular stocks, including the all-important big tech stocks.
