I’ve run a scan on the Top 5 and Bottom 5 industries dating back to late April when the bull market was well under way. I wasn’t so much surprised by those industries in the cellar as much as I was by those that were on top. Another surprise is the fact that there are 4 industries that are trading in the red and just 1 barely trading in the green after one of the best 7-month bull markets we’ve ever seen.
On top you have office supplies with the entire industry looking at a double in share price – perhaps Michael from “The Office” is indeed “World’s Greatest Boss”. At number two you have copper, which you don’t here anyone talking about with all the hysteria surrounding gold, and the industry doesn’t even crack the Top Five. When should we expect to start seeing the “Buy Copper” commercials? Lastly, the Broadcasting-Radio industry is surging – but why? When advertising seems to be down across the board, especially in Radio’s sister medium, the newspaper. Perhaps the growing demand for Talk Radio is also bringing in new advertisers.
Nonetheless, I think this list brings forward a lot of interesting questions and if nothing else, five specific industries you want to stay away from going long in during this bull market run.

Welcome to Swing Trading the Stock Market Podcast!
I want you to become a better trader, and you know what? You absolutely can!
Commit these three rules to memory and to your trading:
#1: Manage the RISK ALWAYS!
#2: Keep the Losses Small
#3: Do #1 & #2 and the profits will take care of themselves.
That’s right, successful swing-trading is about managing the risk, and with Swing Trading the Stock Market podcast, I encourage you to email me (ryan@shareplanner.com) your questions, and there’s a good chance I’ll make a future podcast out of your stock market related question.
Emotional trading will destroy one’s portfolio. Aiming to hit home runs with every trade is a sure sign that the trader is overly emotional and only cares about fast money. In this podcast episode Ryan explains how chasing after stocks like MicroStrategy (MSTR) without a plan for managing the risk can ultimately ruin a trader’s attempt at being a successful swing-trader.
Be sure to check out my Swing-Trading offering through SharePlanner that goes hand-in-hand with my podcast, offering all of the research, charts and technical analysis on the stock market and individual stocks, not to mention my personal watch-lists, reviews and regular updates on the most popular stocks, including the all-important big tech stocks.
