The Chart of the Day…

9-11-tribute

Not quite a chart, but on a day like today, it is important to remember what we’ve come from and what strongly united us as a country shortly after the horrific events of 9/11. As for myself, I was sitting in a college class at the University of Central Florida covering the US Judicial System that morning, when everyone’s cell phones started going off at once. Even then, no one realized that a second airplane was yet to fly into the second Word Trade Center, another into the Pentagon, and one last one into the fields of Pennsylvania.

Most of that day I remember sitting there watching all the television networks try to put into words what just changed our country forever.

I then walked outside and I’ll never forget the image that I saw…a truck driving down the road with a man standing in the back of it, waving an American flag at least six feet long. As the sun set behind him, and watching the American flag glimmer so proudly, it was at that moment that I truly understood the lines of our nation’s anthem that reads:

What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro’ the perilous fight

O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Gave proof thro’ the night that our flag was still there.

At that very moment, I knew what it meant to be a citizen of the greatest nation in the history of mankind

Let’s Roll…

Quick Glance at the Market Heat Map and Industries

Notables:

  • Financials showed some very nice strength, as well as Basic Materials – particularly the oil & gas industries.
  • Utilities, Technology, and Consumer goods lagged the over all market.
  • Health-care wasn’t much to speak of either.

No change to the existing market compass. Still up from here.

And of course…the RIDICULOUS!

Nothing ridiculous tonight, instead I’ve included a song that you’ve all probably heard but captures the moment of 9/11 and what we were all feeling that day…
