Ugh, what a day...
For the first time in about 3 years SharePlanner had itself an outage today where it spent most of the day off-line. The alerts to its subscribers were still running, however the site itself was inaccessible. So my apologies if you came to the website today and it was down.
What was the reason for the outage, you ask? It was me. Entirely...ME.
It was around midnight last night and I had made myself a Jack & Coke to settle in for the home stretch as I did some maintenance on the site since we just switched over to new servers.
But sometimes I think of myself far too highly when it comes to technical matters. I'm one of those people that knows just enough coding to be dangerous to myself.
Not to mention coding and alcohol should never be combined either. It is a recipe for disaster as was the case for me last night, as I ended up deleting a file or two and unknowingly crashed SharePlanner in the process, not to even realize it until the crack of down this morning when I crawled out of bed.
Nonetheless, we are back up, and may it be at least another 3 years before we have our next outage.
